2003-06-23

2 new languages: Ada (thanks to Craig) and Modula-2 (thanks to Isaac).
Next moves will (probably) be: change Modula-2 to Oberon-2, complete Ada, understand what happened to D and add Rebol.
Sorry, I'm a little behind with all the things I have in mind for the Shootout. There's still some time to wait, so I will not promise anything this time :-)

Happy new year, happy new release of the Shootout! :-)
I have changed machine once again (and reinstalled everything once again). This one is a lot slower, but is totally dedicated to the Shootout, so the results will be updated much more frequently.
There are 2 new languages: S-Lang, contributed by John E. Davis, and ICI, contributed by Tim Long who also implemented all the tests (great job, Tim :-).
My next task will be a massive version upgrade (Cygwin, Pike, TCL, Parrot, etc. etc.) and a CVS release of the whole stuff.
I would like to thank all the people that are writing to me about the Shootout: I really appreciate your feedback and contribution. Please be patient, sooner or later everything will be integrated and I will reply to everybody :-)

I corrected some failures due to the usage of Italian locale (Java, VBScript and C# were affected).
A lot of people is contributing damn good stuff (thanks Erik, Isaac, and the others). Please forgive me if I'm a little behind, but I can't dedicate all the time it deserves to the Shootout.
I've added the D language (thanks to Sean for suggesting it). There's a lot to do :-)

2002-09-16

I finally finished the process of moving everything to a different machine, reinstalling all the languages and running all the tests again. Phew, it was a huge task :-)
In the mean time, a lot of good people contributed code and suggested new implementations (thanks Isaac, Greg, Torsten, and the others).
I've added Delphi (all code contributed by Torsten).
I started porting some code to Parrot, the VM. I need more help on this!

2002-05-20

I added Cim, a free implementation of Simula. it was built from source on the Cygwin subsystem.
I also added cygperl, the Perl distribution that comes with Cygwin, just to compare the results with ActivePerl.

2002-05-06

I've added some new languages: Modula-3, elastiC, and Common Lisp in the poplog implementation.
fixed some results (Pliant scores were all screwed up), added some FAQs, changed the HTML here and there, also added a page with all sources for each benchmark.
Java has been upgraded to version 1.4.0-b92.

I have finally finished (re)setting things up and the shootout it's now up and running! -- well, almost ;-)

BIG TROUBLE: unfortunately, due to a harddisk crash, I've lost all the language installed on my box :-(
the shootout code itself is safe, but I have to reinstall everything from scratch to run it again. oh well, at least I'll include all the latest releases all the languages... stay tuned for more.
